The EARN Frontier is
saddened by a loss of a good
friend in Ben Gress... We
marvel that Ben was able to
keep up interest in his crime
watch .... Recent experience
in the EARN Frontier has
been the reduction of
neighbors attending
meetings and the dissolution
of Charlotte's Neighborhood
and REACH due to lack of
interest of transient
neighbors, old-age, death
and the decision to move
elsewhere and into Senior
Citizen Housing ... EARN itself
has seen attendance dip from
the same range of
Mountainville 30 to much
lower .... We even had a
meeting once when 115
people attended ... In the
EARN Frontier only Midway
Manor now meets regularly
with an average of about 15 to
25 people ... EARN itself
since the death of key
members no longer meets on
a regular basis .... But it is a
good idea to do so again ...
President Dennis Pearson
still attends many but not all
Crime Watch, School District,
City and County meetings on
the behalf of the
neighborhood ... The
neighborhood still decorates
Irving Park with Christmas
decorations ( Project Haas)
and still awards a small
scholarship to students at
Louis E. Dieruff High School
(Project Academia) ... The
time is ripe for neighborhood
reorganization and renewal.
